About This Book

I wrote this book because there was a gap.

When someone comes out as trans, there is (rightly) a growing amount of information available for trans people themselves. But there is far less support aimed at the people who love them. The partners, friends and family who are trying to understand, adapt and support. This book is for them.

The book doesn’t speak for the trans community. Instead, it offers advice from the perspective of a partner, and former counsellor with everything informed by my husband, Charlie.

Free, Because It Should Be

This book is completely free.

That choice was intentional. I believe access to information, reassurance, and support shouldn’t depend on someone’s ability to pay. Many people looking for this kind of resource are already dealing with enough; cost shouldn’t be another barrier.

Supporting TransActual

If you find the book helpful and are in a position to do so, we invite you to consider making a donation to TransActual.

TransActual is a UK-based, trans-led charity working to improve the lives of trans people through advocacy, education, and policy change. Supporting them helps ensure that trans voices remain central in conversations that affect trans lives.

Donating is entirely optional, but deeply appreciated.

By choosing to donate, you’re not paying for the book.

You’re supporting the wider work that makes understanding, safety, and equality possible.
